• US imposes sanctions on Hezbollah leaders

    Washington, Sep 14: The US Thursday slapped fresh sanctions on three leaders of Lebanese militant group Hezbollah for their alleged role in aiding the Syrian government in its crackdown on opposition forces, the Wall Street Journal reported.
    The US Treasury formally charged Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah, and two other members of the organisation -- Mustafa Badr Al-Din and Talal Hamiyah -- of supporting Syrian President Bashar al-Assad's forces by providing training and logistical support.

    Dubai: The fit-again Yuvraj Singh on Thursday broke into the top-20 while Suresh Raina got a major confidence booster ahead of the World T20 in Sri Lanka, emerging as the highest-placed Indian batsmen at number three, in the latest ICC player rankings for the shortest format.

    Apart from Raina, no other Indian featured in the top-10 chart for batsmen, which is being headed by New Zealand's Brendon McCullum, followed by big-hitting West Indian Chris Gayle.

    New Delhi, Sept 13: Slamming the government over diesel price hike, UP allies Trinamool Congress and Samajwadi Party have demanded an immediate rollback while the opposition said the increase will further hit the common man and create "mayhem" in the economy.
    "We are unhappy. We will not accept it and demand its rollback,"  Mamata Banerjee, chief of Trinamool Congress, the second-largest constituent of the UPA said in Kolkata.

    Nagpur, Sep 13: A joint team of wildlife and territorial wing officials on Wednesday arrested 10 persons here for selling snake venom illegally worth lakhs of rupees.

     


    The joint team seized 8ml of cobra venom, estimated to be worth Rs 8 lakh. The officials also seized seven live cobras, one chameleon and one grass snake, besides six motorcycles and 14 mobiles from the accused.
